Position Summary
The Product Manager is the driving force behind the inception, planning, development and delivery of new products to market. Product Manager's work independently and as a team member to develop, document, verify and implement strategic and product decisions. PMs manage the complete life cycle of definition, introduction and sales life for a specific product or product line. The Product Manager position is a key strategic position within F5 Networks. Product Managers must develop a careful balance of future vision, near term opportunities, customer requirements, business savvy and management of day-to-day product issues. The ability to identify the questions as well as the answers is critical. The customer set varies from R&D to other marketing functions, executives, channel, end users and business partners. The position is very dynamic and the individual must be comfortable with frequent multi-tasking between technical, business, strategic, marketing and planning activities.
Responsibilities
- Work with engineering, services and sales to drive product direction for F5’s BIG-IP LTM product.
- Create Market Requirement Documents for product direction based on market inputs (customer calls/visits, partners, trends, field feedback, services, win/loss analysis, competitive analysis and other market opportunities).
- Lead product launches and be primary contributor to positioning, packaging, pricing, place, and promotion strategies.
- Develop product and competitive positioning, financial return on investment.
- Act as one of the key evangelists for F5 and the F5 product / solution set.
Qualifications
- 3 years experience in Product Management and/or System Engineering role.
- Direct experience selling to security architects in F1000 enterprises.
- Thorough understanding of the networking and security marketspace (including application security solutions, FW/IPS, Identity Management, XML security, etc).
- Outstanding written and oral communication skills, with ability to articulate complex technology simply.
- Strong customer orientation with the ability to listen, organize and champion key initiatives and projects for product development.
- Excellent leadership, negotiation & persuasion skills.
- Flexible, self motivated team player
Knowledge, Abilities and Other Requirements
- Requires an understanding of enterprises and n-tier applications and architectures.
- Broad knowledge of networking (TCP/IP, HTTP, SSL, DNS, LDAP, Radius etc).
- Knowledge about web applications and emerging SOA architecture is a plus.
- Familiarity with the L4-L7 market space and technologies is a plus (SLB, GSLB, SSL technologies).
- BSCS, MIS BSEE, BS or equivalent required, MBA helpful but not required.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Daily computer use in an office environment. Travel required
